I have a X201, can anyone point me in the right direction as far as ..which of the power manager selection would give the most battery life?

I see there is advanced and basic and basic has a slider, do some of the selections in the advance have an advantage over the basic?

    Thx

    I'd go Advanced.

Choose Balanced CPU or Lowest if you can take a bit of lag, and enable deeper sleep. Scroll through the list and change anything that looks like it'll save power on the battery side like wifi, PCI link, etc.

There are other equally important factors that affect power consumption.
Keep brightness low, and avoid resource-heavy programs. Use IE9 on battery power as it is most power-efficient. Trim your task-resident programs, and keep the drive well defragged (unless you have an SSD).

I'd use Power Source Optimized as a base profile, then make changes as above.

I did not realize that. Is this because of the number of background services that Chrome (and/ or FF) runs?

LTT Power Manager or Lenovo Energy Management for IdeaPad Y470

I just signed up with the US Lenovo Support site. Under the Diagnose & Fix tab, I was offered a link to the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox (LTT). On my old Think system laptop, I used to have a similar toolbox. I downloaded the toolbox, and installed on my Y470. It installed correctly, and all the options work great. I especially love all of the system information it generates. LTT covers much more on the hardware configuration in my Y470, than any other tool I’ve seen.

I only have one question about the Power Manager Feature in the toolbox. I haven’t installed that program yet. If I install the toolbox Power Manager Program, will it work “nice” with the Lenovo Energy Management software that I already have in the Y470? Will both programs be able to co-exist without generating any problems?

I don’t want to endanger, or disable my existing Y470 Energy Management system. It works fine. I just want to see what capability, the LTT Power Manager, offers me.

    Thank you,
