Any suggestions, especially if you do data sensitive work in public a lot? Thanks!

look into part number FLTR-154 from 3M. its made specifically for a 15.4 inch widescreen for laptops.

As for as I know there are two manufacturers of privacy filters for notebooks. One is ViewGuard, www.buyviewguard.com and the other is 3M, www.3m.com. I have a 13.3" Widescree ViewGuard Privacy Filter for my Sony SZ and it is good (hopefully I will be using it on my M1330 if Dell ever ships it). Nice for anti-glare.

If you use this on a glossy screen, does it mean you'll get the best of both worlds (glossy's pic quality and matte's practicality)? Thanks!

I am not sure! I haven't used a privacy filter on anything but the SZ. I, personally, like the idea of a glossy screen in theory but in practicality it is a tad annoying. That is why I like the glare reduction of the privacy screen.
