    Hi there,

Next week I will be visiting Manhattan and Seattle during a week long stay in the US. I plan on buying a new laptop (most likely a thinkpad t61 or x61). Could someone direct me to the best shop for this in either Manhattan or Seattle (so one that would likely have good prices and ample stock). In Belgium, where I live, they do not sell Thinkpads through retail...

    Thanks

In Manhattan you'd be hard-pressed to find Lenovo stock at any of the usual suspects, like Circuity City and Best Buy. According to www.shoplocal.com the Office Depot at 1440 Broadway does have a few items in stock. Good luck with the search!

You can get some Thinkpad models at RCS Computer Experience and also at Datavision. These are in midtown Manhattan.

I was in Datavision (park ave and 40th) yesterday as a matter of fact. They have a few T61 models and an X61 on display and in stock. Prices are not anything special though. RCS probably has more models (they have a little thinkpad branded area) but their prices are basically just USA list.

The datavision on 5th avenue and 39th street (on the same block as the mid-manhattan library) has the t61 model and a few other models that I don't remember. But you should check out RCS experience which is at 575 madison avenue, 56th street http://www.rcsnet.com/www_site/index.cfm. I remember they have a much bigger collection of thinkpads on display than datavision. hope this helps.

At least you NYCers actually have places that carry Thinkpads. I had to buy my T61p sight unseen even though I live and work in Silicon Valley!

I posted my queries and experiences w/trying to find a place to see a T61 at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=148141.

I possibly could've bugged a friend of mine at Intel but he was and still out of the country on his honeymoon.
