I recently recieved my x200t, but am rather dissapointed with the amount of bloatware included on a $2k laptop.

I want to do a clean install, but being new to Thinkpads(this is my first), I'd like to know the easiest/best way to perform a clean install of Windows Vista. I have my own DVD with a legal license.

I noticed the system update utility. It seems useful. Could I just install Vista, and then install TVSU and let is do the rest?

    Thanks for the help!

    That should work fine.

You can also transfer the license that came with your x200T to your new install by following the tips in the clean install guide.

System update should pull down all the software/drivers for you. However, you may not want to install Access Connections as it can be slower than the built in Windows utility.

Yeah, I've noticed this about AC already.

    Thanks for the tip!

OH MAN I wish I knew about that ABR utility before I re-installed Vista on my T400 and used the key on the bottom sticker to activate... so it's like we're actually getting TWO keys when we buy a laptop with Vista pre-installed???

I'm just going to use the license I have through my school.

I'm just amazed at the amount of bloatware on my Thinkpad. Oh well, nothing a clean install can't fix.

So, TVSU is really all I need? As in' it'll pull everything I need?

Don't forget to create your recovery disks. Unless you don't want/need them.

Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > Create Product Recovery Media
