I'm thinking about buying a Thinkpad X220, but want to wait for a great coupon to come around before I buy. I want to get an idea of what a great coupon looks like. What is the best coupon that you have seen offered by Lenovo on Thinkpads?

The best deal I've seen was LENOVOVIP which took off 15%, i think, combined with extra 10-15% off using one of the corporate sites. I've seen someone order his X220 with i5 2520m, IPS, BT3.0, Intel 6205 and Webcam for as low as $780 + tax.

ECOUPONS10 took off 10%. Google them.

I just got done haggling with someone on the chat and he took off over $300 for my x220. It's worth talking to someone on the chat or calling then up. Just ask for a price quote.

AboutThreeFitty, were you able to use the coupon and also negotiate another price discount through chatting with the sales rep?

Also, what was the original cost of your system I'm trying to get an estimate of the max discount I can get. Thanks!

I wasn't able to keep the coupon and get a price quote from the sales rep. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try. My configuration was originally a touch over $1,400 and he got it down to $1,062.64 before tax. That quote is good for 30 days. Not bad for taking half an hour of my time, but results will vary.

So from what I heard from my sales rep, the LENOVOVIP 15% coupon was actually supposed to be a Lenovo Internal coupon for their employees.. except somebody screwed something up and it got out.. hence why it was quickly shut down.

I was able to get a base 15% off with an additional 12% off via coupon, which combined gave a 25.2% discount.

I argued with several reps to price match my quote, none would budge. I canceled my order (after several threats), my rep lost his order and I proceeded to use my unused lenovovip quote + student discount.

Maybe he still got commission but meh, all the coupons really me off. They remind me of Kohls, with all the "super" sales.

gauden44, how did you get the 15% off base? I was using the student/shareholder account and they both only give about 10% off base.

What do you mean by 'match your quote?' It's not like you'd be paying any less right? Is there some advantage of having an order go through a rep other than a possibility of a bigger discount?

By using one of the corp. links, I think. I saved some more dollars using our company's epp.
