Hello, my name is Simon and I am a student in Nairobi and trying to buy a used laptop to aid my studies. The cheapest prices I can find are on eBay and then brought here to Kenya, but I am unsure which model to get. I find that the T40s sell for about 350-450, the T41s 450-550, and the T420 550-650. Are these the greatest prices I can get? Is there a big difference between these models? What about EPP prices?

    Thank you in advance,

    Simon

For just studies the cheaper the better. To type a word or two PII will do just fine.

It is not just for word processing, but SPSS and other heavy applications. I want the T4X series because it has the Pentium M proc. But there is virtually no difference between the T40 and the T42? Why are people paying more? How do I get these EEP prices?

The later the models will have better CPUs with a bit better performance, but nothing earthshattering. The cases, keyboard, screens, etc are similar.

EPP comes from people who work at IBM or Lenovo, so if you know someone who works there ask them about it. If they don't know you can find out a little if you search for "EPP" at the Lenovo website.

the t40 and the 41 are basically the same cpu (banias) pentium m. T42 have dothan pentium m, which is a bit better performance. the t40 is still great to handle any applications you have.

eh I havent manage to find t40 for 350$ I think they are worth more

Actually some of the T42s had Banais as well. Usually the lower end ones.
