    Google is your friend.

oodles of recommendations for sources and discounts and timing of the discounts.

I found Lenovo.com to be the best when I was looking. A double ecoupon was available. Some extra discounts via fatwallet and paypal are sometimes available. And, Lenovo seems to make sales available quarterly.

    Good luck on your shopping.

I purchased mine with Lenovo's holiday sale (25%, including addons), plus another coupon found on here for I believe 13.33% off, plus I purchased through ecoupons.com who claims they will pay cash back if you purchase via their link. At the time of my order, the cash back offer was 4%, but a couple of days later that increased to 10%. I notice now it is back to 4%. Here is the link... http://www.ecoupons.com/coupon-code/Thinkpad Just have to register. I've had problems getting credit for the sale, however, and currently they are "investigating" it will Lenovo. We'll see what happens in a few weeks.

thanks. is there any consensus on which screen is better? the WSXGA or the WSXGA+?

and another quick question, is now a good time to buy? or is new hardware (like penryn?) about to be released?

    Thanks again for your help

I got mine through Lenovo.com, it was through the employee discount section.

Got a very good deal on my t61p.

I like my WSXGA+ screen. If you don't need to buy right away I would wait until penryn starts coming out for laptops.

Use visaperks on top of the coupons (it's almost always stackable)
That'll give you another ~10% off

Penryn is already available in the United States on Thinkpads
