There's just too many laptops out there. Would anyone be able to help my search?
I work full time and do two electrical engineering courses (ABET degree) through distance learning. I download Tegrity videos every morning and watch them during my off hours and record notes on paper.
I use my laptop off and on up to 5 times a day for up to 5 hours. It needs to be able to last without charging for about 16 hours including standby time.
It needs to boot up very fast and have at least 512 SSD HDD
Fan noise has to be almost non existant
Windows laptop
Touchscreen would help for times I don't want to pull out my mouse and I hate trackpads
It needs to have good wifi since I download class lecture recordings daily
I don't really like alot of glare on monitors, how can anyone work effectively with all the glare? it's baffling
I've used a Lenovo e420s for 4 years, now it's getting really slow on loading programs like matlab. I plan on getting into 3D printing so solidworks and autocad need to run well without alot of lag.
I don't play alot of games, but playing games like Blade & Soul would be great on decent settings.
I don't do any photoshop or drawing. I'm not about to carry a laptop to a meeting when all I need is a crumpled post it note to take notes.
This coming semester I'll be taking General Chemistry 2 and Control Systems 1.

Well, if you're looking at Thinkpads, I've give the Thinkpad X and T series a lookover.

I don't think there's anything out there with 16 hours between charges, but check out the W550s for great battery life, dedicated graphics, and anti-glare screen. If you are not in a hurry, the P50s (which should be available for order in early 2016) may have a bit better battery life than the W550s.
