I have NEVER posted to any forum but I feel like I must today. I just received a Lenovo T400 maxed out and I must say it is the best laptop I have ever owned. In the past I have owned pretty much any laptop you can think of including the Apple Macbook Pro. Nothing and I mean NOTHING can touch the Lenovo T400. I make a living in IT and I use the laptop mostly for J2EE development. This machine just works right out of the box. The 14.1" LED screen is the best screen I have seen on any laptop.

If you look in the "What Notebook Should I Buy" section, you will see it was originally posted there.

Not many people who like their T400 or any other laptop would post good comments, they are too busy with their new laptops. Thanks for giving such a positive comment

Thinking about doing this myself, would it void Lenovo's extended warranty? Or perhaps would it only void coverage on the HD?

Changing a part out yourself will not void your warranty Susie unless it can specifically be found to be the reason another part fails in the laptop. Most of the time, the manufacturer simply will not cover replacing the part you put in the notebook should it ever fail.

I second that. Only if it's an LG panel though.

I take you took the LED panel.
I think the T400 is more solidly build than a T61. Just speculating.

I like my T400 too! I would say the T61 is slightly better built than the T400 but its still great.

I too am impressed with my T400. I do not have any notebook to compare it with - in fact this is my first laptop ever - so I cannot say that it is the best. I love the screen - really bright and vibrant. Thinklight does not bother me at all despite Kevin's review - although it might if you are looking at it from a very low angle. There is a bit of a keyboard flex but nothing you would notice under normal typing. I probably will be using it hooked up to a monitor and external keyboard most of the time though. Laptop runs cool and quiet, and is much faster and smoother than my old desktop (P4 2.4Ghz, 5.5 years old lol). I only have 2 gigs of RAM so I might need to upgrade at some point. I did not realize how much resources Vista consumes. My computer at work has XP pro, and I have to really try to max out 1 gig of RAM. Overall great laptop - especially since I got a great deal, under $1100.
