    Hi All,

Has anyone found a multi memory card reader for the pc card slot or express card slot that fits perfectly for the T61 without exceeding the edges of the slots?

    Looking for buy advice...

    Cheers

Well right now I would prefer it to read xD cards because of my camera, maybe also Sony memory stick micro (M2) because of my phone. I’m considering changing the camera soon, and the new one would use SD cards.

    Primary:
    SD Cards

    Optional:
    xD
    Sony Memory Stick Micro (M2)

I own a T60p and i personally own and use the Siig expresscard 11-in-1 reader:
    http://www.siig.com/ViewProduct.aspx?pn=CE-E01012-S1.

You can find on ebay at really good price if you look hard enough. There are others that claim to 18-in-1 but my siig has performed marvelously thus far. It fits snuggly in the expresscard slot with no protrusion. Most of the time i forget that it is even there to be honest. I recommend it.

I have searched a bit around, and it seems like the Cables UnlimitedTM Card Reader ExpressCard 34mm
    http://www.cablesunlimited.com/products/Prod_Individual3.aspx?groupcode=I3631
does support SD, miniSD,MicroSD, MMC, RSMMC,MMC4.0, RSMMC4.0, MMCplus, MMCmobile, MS, MS PRO, MS Duo,MS PRO Duo, TransFlash, M2, SDHC(SD2.0) and XD

another option mentioned by RasBastard is the SIIG ExpressCard 11-in-1 Card Reader/Writer
    http://www.siig.com/ViewProduct.aspx?pn=CE-E01012-S1
that support SD, miniSD, MMC, RS-MMC, xD Picture card, Memory Stick®, Memory Stick Duo™, Memory Stick Pro™, Memory Stick Pro Duo™, MagicGate™ Memory Stick and MagicGate Memory Stick Pro memory cards

also the Belkin Multimedia Reader and Writer ExpressCard™
    http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=278313#
    that supports according to
    http://www.pcuniverse.com/productsc...ock=on&keyword=Memory+Adapters_ExpressCard/34
these formats ( MS, MS PRO, MMC, SD, xD )

yet another is the Delkin eFilm ExpressCard 34 6-In-1 Card
    http://www.delkin.com/products/adapters/expresscard34/6in1.html
that supports SD , SDHC, MMC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO & xD

there is also the Griffin ExpressCard/34 5:1 Card Reader
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/expressreader
that supports Memory Stick PRO Memory Stick, SD Memory Card,MultiMediaCard and xD-Picture Card and with your card adapter it also supports Memory Stick Duo, Memory StickMicro ( M2), miniSD, microSD, RS-MC, MMCplus, MMCmobile

We already have a review from RasBastard on the SIIG
Can anyone else give some reviews for the other cards, and another question is...with a 54 mm wide slot for the ExpressCard in my T61 - does the 34 mm cards fit well or are they a bit loose in the slot?

While we are on the subject...

What advantage, other than possibly not sticking out, does the expresscard route have over the USB adapters that Sandisk sells.

Well...the advantage is that you can leave it in when you are on the move and don’t have to carry even more external stuff with you.

Another is the bandwidth of 480 Mbit/s plus 2.5 Gbit/s - I don’t know how fast the cards work or how fast the memory cards can work...but heard somewhere that it can be so fast that you can use it as a boost for your system (no sure if this in reality makes a difference on performance).

I started this thread because I wanted something neat that fits my T61 perfectly and doesn’t look like some tumor on the side...besides being able to read my cameras (xD), my future cameras (??)and my phones memory (M2).

I started looking for one for the same reasons. Neatness and speed. I got discouraged when someone on another forum said that there would not be a speed increase over USB.

Please post when you pick one. I'll prbably pick one up anyway.

Not much. Why? The ExpressCard interface is comprised of both a USB2.0 bus and an PCI-express bus and unless it is specifically stated that a specific brand/model of ExpressCard reader actually uses the faster PCI-Express bus to read from/write to the memory card assume that it doesn't and is using the "slower" USB2.0 bus instead.

So one could argue that the vast majority of ExpressCard readers are in fact no faster than their external USB2.0 equivalents.

Add the fact that unlike an ExpressCard reader, an external USB2.0 reader can be used with multitudes of desktops and laptops everywhere that have a USB2.0 port but lack an ExpressCard slot.

I have been told this before. The only advantage that an expresscard reader would have in most cases would be that it could be out of the way as was the desire of the OP.

There is a Koutech for 19.99 on newegg that does not protrude. It has the added benefit of doing SDHC cards too.
