It's time to change my harddrive.

    Which should I buy?

Is the "500 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm", which can be used in the costumization of Thinkpads, any good? What brand is it?

Also, does it have Full disk encryption? Which has?

    Which thinkpad do you have?

Which hdds have you been looking at so far if any?

Im looking at getting the Hitachi 7k500 or Seagate Momentus 7200.4 both can come in 500GB models. I don’t know if you pay few extra cents or pennies for the FDE versions or how it all works.

    I have a T61p.

Didn't know Thinkpads were using Seagate... I thought they still were using Hitachi....

Probably different source on HDDs just like LCDs. The consensus is Hitachi is the best HDD. Used on Apple and TP mostly. STX has QC issues.

I got WD as secondary HDD in the ultrabay. Works great and quite! Hitachi produces more noise than Seagate/WD, but cheaper.

    Hitachi gets my vote.

I had a 200GB FDE and you wouldn't know it was encrypted.
