I remember my father buying me a used Thinkpad i-Series (forget the model number) back in 2000, and that was my very first computer ever. I was 9 at the time. I don't have it anymore, but that is the only Thinkpad from the 1990s I have ever used.

How about you guys? What is the best 1990s Thinkpad you have ever used?

The only thinkpad laptop I've used even close to that age was I believe a T20 that either came out in 1999 or 2000? I'm not entirely sure as I was like 8 at the time but that was our first family laptop haha.

Apart from the lousy batteries, I'd say the 600 series.

My first real laptop was a 600. Followed by a 600X. At the time my co-workers used 770's which were (seemed) about 3x as thick and UGLY. The 600 series was a lean mean machine.

I also used a 240x for a little while, which caused me to fall in love with the mini thinkpads. I wanted one to get another 240 for a long time, long after they were actually a usable machine. My current Edge 120 is the closest i've been to getting a tiny little machine like the old 240.

Does IBM Transnote count as 1990's? 701C...or the old T20 I had..

The T2X machines(I still have mine) are tanks. They'll likely survive a zombie apocalypse intact, they're that insanely tough.

If you want to go more -vintage-, I had a 770Z that I flat-out loved. Not as powerful as the T21 I have, but it was a solid system that gave me many hours of reliable computing happiness. :)
