Hey all I'm really interested in getting a Lenovo Thinkpad and I wanted to know which is the best? Is it the T61p?

My kneejerk reply was to say, "yes", but I don't think that's a fair answer.

It's not the best for someone who wants a tablet and it's not the best for someone who makes a small machine.

I have one and I love it. It's just the best for me and my needs.

Well I'm an architecture student and need to run CAD, 3ds Max, Revit, Photoshop all those fun programs and I wanted a really sturdy work station and heard that lenovo was the way to go.

It is. And it does sound as if the t61p is a machine that would be a good investment for you.

What is the best warranty to get? I see that they offer Warranty Service Upgrades or Protection Service. I can only chose one or the other, which is best from experience? Also is paying for the Live Telephone Service even worth it?

on-site warranty is worth its weight in gold...you can actually make sure the tech is competent, where as at the depot its a crap shoot.

It has the best specifications for a laptop that can be 14". That is my opinion.

When it comes to tablets, there are no tablets with proper graphics. There's the Pavillion IIRC (AMD, ~GeForce 7300 or something), and the Acer with a 7300 that was discontinued.

The protection service includes the extended warranty. You can choose either on dock or on site service as well with the protection service. I got the 3 year extended on-site warranty with 3 year protection service on mine.

"3 Year On Site Upgrade with 3 Year ThinkPad Protection [add $349.00]" as an example this choice includes warranty upgrade to 3 years, on-site as well as protection service

Yea I'll be ordering the T61p 15.4" once my check clears from the bank. Is the Turbo Memory worth it by any chance?
