Besides theft issues, is ACTUALLY technically necessary to lock the notebook into the Ultrabase?

Ok possible stupid question alert, but here goes:

Subject says it all. I work alone in an office which is secure and I'm not worried about theft of my X61 when it's in the docking station. Taking this into account, do I really need to lock the notebook (key on right hand side of Ultrabase) when using the X61 in the Ultrabase? i.e - Besides security issues, are you supposed to lock the Notebook so it doesn't mistakenly get ripped out of the dock or something?

The reason I ask is that I would like to know if this could be one less thing I have to worry about when docking/undocking my notebook in the Ultrabase which I do quite often during the workday. I'd like to take this time saving shortcut, but not at the possible risk of damaging my notebook.

Thanks for your (gentle..) replies. :p

I have never locked it nor will I ever...someone can just take the laptop with the dock if they want it.

That key is only needed for theft reasons. If you're not worried about that, then don't use the key at all.
