Believe it? 15.4'' T61, ordered 06/15 night, shipped 06/18 afternoon

I put an order for 15.4'' T61 on the night of last Friday (2007-06-16) direclty from Lenovo and I got a shipping notice yesterday afternoon. This morning, the tracking info is also provided.

This is amusing to me and I could not help but laughing since I have been reading so many shipping related posts.

Now I have some suspicion about this copy of T61. Could be a returned copy or possibly refurbished? How could be Lenovo so quick this time? I have reading delayed shipping messages all over this forum for some time.

Here are some info you may be interested. The ESD was 07/16 when I put the order. Monday morning, I noticed it was changed 7/18. Suddenly it was shipped in the afternoon. Is this typical way of Lenovo donig business? Has Lenovo been transformed into another business after hearing you guys' complaints?

Here is a twist and just wanted to share with you. Friday night after I put the order, I noticed that I should have selected DVD recordable instead of CD-RW only and then immediately I put another order and was planning to call Lenovo to cancel the first one. Early yesterday monring, I did call Lenovo and the rep agreed to help to cancel it. Based on my experiences with other online stores, if I dont want this copy, I could simply refused to accept the package and expect a full refund, right?

BTW, what if buying a DVD recordable and install it myself? Doable thing?

One more bit of info: I used EPP like many others did...

 

Do you have a WXGA 15.4" screen instead of the WSXGA+ screen?


My friend and I ordered on the same day. He chose a WXGA screen(lower resolution) and I had a WSXGA+ screen. Both our ESD's were 7/04. His Laptop shipped yesterday. And mine still has the same(7/04) ESD.

mine is WSXGA+. Sounds like Lenovo is able to ship so fast.

I also ordered the 15.4 WSXGA+ screen on 6/14 and my estimated ship date still says 7/10

you probably got a returned unit, but it was probably not opened.

And you will have complications (15% restocking fee) if you simply refuse the package. This is what my Rep told me.

I talked to my rep. She said two ways:
1. Refuse to accept the package, which will take a longer to get full refund.
2. Accept the package, do not open it. Contact Lenovo for a number. and then ship it. Full refund. Faster way to get refund. She recommended this way.

My rep is SMARTER

Hey...why do you want to return your machine? Unless it's a DOA or something like that, it should be fine. Aren't you happy that you got your machine
And why would Lenovo pass on a returned unit to someone else without checking.

 

imjimmy, sorry for the confusion. the order to be returned has CD-RW. I later changed my mind and put another one with DVD recordable. one is shipped and the other one is coming soon.

Looking forward to first impressions of a 15" T61. Do you feel it's too heavy?

 

Dude! There's nothing wrong with your machine.

Lenovo can't send you a refurbished machine at a new machine price. What most likely happened is someone received it, changed their minds and decided they wanted a T61P, and returned it back to Durham, NC without opening the box. Anyone who has ever returned to Lenovo knows that the boxes are sealed with security tape. Any tampering means a 15% restocking fee. So even if yours went to Moscow and back, it's a fresh, clean, machine.

Open the bloody thing and enjoy it.

 

I ordered a similar computer on 6/12 and it shipped yesterday or the day before. It's Pacific Ocean (I think??) as we speak. I'm excited.

This is huge surprise. I did not expect the T61 to get shipped so soon, especially looking at the trouble so many people have had.

 

Hm, I ordered what seems to be an almost identical machine on 06/06/07 (ESD 07/02/07), and mine is still 'in process'.

T61 15.4" WSXGA+, T7500, 2GB, Intel x3100, 120GB 5400rpm, Thinkpad A/B/G, DVD recordable, express & pc card reader. No bluetooth, wwan, finterprint reader, or turbo memory.

 

I heard the WWAN is on backorder that's probably why your order is still "In Process"

 

Ordered June 5, shipped June 19: 15.4'' WSXGA+, T7300, 512MB ram, 100Gb 7200rpm, Intel x3100, CD-RW/DVD, 9 cell battery

 

Moscow is not a dirty place. Not at all.

 

15.4" WSXGA+, nothing fancy, ordered on 6/15... still 'in process.' I'm moving back to school this weekend, so hopefully i'll get a shipping notice soon. Otherwise, i'll be computerless for a bit.

 

I must register my astonishment that the 'ThinkPad' user name had not been taken for so long.

If you get a sealed box, I don't think it should be a problem. If you do however get a refurb machine, raise hell and make them give you a new one.

 

WTF now either Lenovo is REALLY TRYING TO STILL SCREW US and shipping orders randomly or they are still low on the 15.4" WXGA screens. I ordered a few days before bryanv, on 6/3/07 and have the EXACT same configuration as him except for the regular 15.4" WXGA screen & 120GB hard drive. Due to some recent posts I've seen here, the 120GB 5400rpm component is always shipping fast but the 15.4" screens are still delayed. Maybe they got the WSXGA+ screen in and the regular screens I hope they get in soon. I am running out of patience with Lenovo.

edit: Rofl I tried Lenovo for fun and actually go it. Would have thought someone took it.

 

I have a 120 GB 5400 rpm and a 15.4 WSXGA+. And my friend has the same with WXGA instead of the WSXGA+. Both our machines have been shipped. The order date for both was 6/07.
I think there's no set pattern. Lenovo has pressed on the gas now and the machines are shipping fast!

 

my second T61 (WSGA+ is the only differnence". See my first post to know why it is the second) got shipped today!

For the first one, Lenovo will arrange a no-question-asked return. no cost on me.

Email Confirmation of shipping on 6/14 and later a
Tracking number for docking station on 6/14

Received T61 on 06/16 and docking station on 6/21
8 days for the laptop and 13 days for the docking station.

Never got a tracking number or email confirmation for the laptop.
