Ok, now I dont know much about computers at all and I have had a search around these forums for advice but basically I am interested in buying a T61 notebook.

I plan to buy it online from Lenovo in Australia (unless this is not a good idea!?) however it comes with an option to upgrade from 1GB of RAM to 2GB. From what I have read it sounds like 1GB is not enough to run Vista properly? Is this correct and should I upgrade?

Also quickly, will the T61 be able to handle light gaming - ie The Sims 2 and some EA Sports Games (FIFA, NHL...).

    Thanks for your assistance.

Upgrading the memory yourself is usually the cheapest router and not that hard either. I had Vista on my R60 with 1GB of memory. It seemed to do OK though Vista runs slower than XP in general. The NVidia 140m is roughly equivalent to the 7600 go. I don't think those games should present a problem.

From what I recall, upgrading the memory on a T61 involves unscrewing 1 screw from the back, and ripping off the palm rests. then carefully disconnecting a wire (which connects the fingerprint reader???). The memory should be right there then, right?
