    Before I buy it, I was curious what kind of performance people with the 530 are getting on battlefield 3. I have the k2000m, and the 3720-QM for comparison purposes.

    Thanks

    Never played it myself. But according to one who did, you should be able to get reasonable FPS at mid settings and 1080p. High should be "playable". Max would be laggy.

    BTW, why do you care about gaming performance on a W530?

    I absolutely hate when people say, "If you want to game you shouldn't have a thinkpad." Do you guys not realize that to most people, gaming is not the only thing they do in life? It is a hobby. I'm assuming he is worried about gaming performance on a W530 because he needs the laptop for other reasons, and enjoys a little gaming in his free time. Is that an appropriate answer for you?

    I read somewhere that the kepler 2000 gpu for w530 is similar to GTX650M. Correct me if I am wrong.

    Cause I want to play some games on it....I used my thinkpad for lots of things, but I also want to game on it from time to time. Not sure why else I'd asking about gaming performance if I had no intention of gaming on this machine.

    I know someone who played it on the 2000m and it was not that great of a performance. I was just curious if there really was a decent increase in performance.

    Thanks for the responses everyone.

    It's plenty playable on the 2000M. Not sure about AK maps though.

    @Rezabrya
    Sorry. Got too used to the "I built a desktop so I should only play on it" idea. Yes, your answer is appropriate.

    @DRCOOL
    Assuming that there's no bottleneck anywhere else in the system, K2000M may add 20%-30% on FPS compared to the 2000M. Of course it depends on graphic settings and many other things. You should notice the improvement, but a dramatic boost is unlikely.
