    Does this make any sense?
    Is my battery defective already?

It's stuck on 96% while plugged in.

No, it's normal. It prevents your battery from recharging every time it's less than 100%. This will prolong your battery life.

Yup. It's a setting you must've accidentally activated in ThinkVantage Power Manager.

So is this a setting I should enable then? The "optimize for maximum battery life" feature I mean? I am pretty diligent about unplugging it when it hits 100% and using it without it being plugged in. What do you think?

You should set the threshold lower if you're the kind of person that unplugs your T61 from the bedroom to run downstairs and plug it in again. If you use only a few percent of your battery between each charge, your battery's condition will deteriorate very quickly.

Thanks for the reply. Just so I understand, are you saying that if I recharge cycle is broken up even by 10 seconds of unplugging and replugging it to charge again that makes it deteriorate quickly? So are you supposed to only use it on battery once it's charged to full capacity again and not say 45% or something?
