Does anyone know how much battery life difference is there between using a T60w with an ATI x1300 versus an Intel GMA950?

    Came across a link ( http://www.lenovoblogs.com/insidethebox/?cat=8) which basically says x1300 gives 4.6h and GMA950 gives 7.8h

Although these specs were estimated by Lenovo, to me that seems a little absurd. Has anyone done a more controlled test to see how they both compare?

I mean sure, I can probably do regular office stuff (word/excel) and get 7.8 with GMA950 and play some hard core 3D games with x1300 to get 4.6h... but then that wouldn't really be a fair comparison.

There's no way you could get 4.6 hours out of the T60 WITH integrated graphics, those numbers are insultingly inflated by Lenovo. And honestly, if you're using the notebook to do usual Office stuff I'd be surprised if there were more than a 20 - 30 minute difference in battery life between Inteal GMA 950 and an ATI X1300 card which is not a very powerful card.

I have the T60 with the x1300. I haven't done scientific tests, but let's put it this way: I wouldn't count on getting more than three hours out of it, ever.

Manufacturer's battery-life estimates are about as accurate as EPA gas mileage estimates... before the recent revision of standards.

i think those numbers are just esimates... i mean ridiculous estimates. it means you can get about 7.8 hours of screensaver time :p don't know really. i just find those times area about 1.5-2hours in excess in the real world usage.

don't rely on such numbers. the truth always hurts :)

The test you linked to was on a Thinkpad R60 14-inch with a core duo T2300 and a 9-cell battery.

It's safe to assume that a 15.4" T60w with a comparable battery will get less battery life because of the larger screen and the newer core 2 duo processors.

That's understandable, but my point was whether there is almost 2x difference in life between x1300 or gma950... I'm not sure where Lenovo got those numbers, but they seem somewhat unrealistic and that's why I felt that their battery life tests were not being performed fairly.
