    Hi *.
I wanted to order a new T61 today but after talking with one of the representatives, I was a bit discouraged. He told me that due to some issues with the batteries, they cannot ship any laptop with a 9 cell battery and if I order one with a 6 cell battery, I will have to wait at least 4 weeks.

Does it make sense to wait for so long?
When are the new lenovo laptops coming out? price is not really an issue for me, but I am not very happy to wait for so long. Any advice?

    Thanks!

Edit: the coupon in the sticky post doesn't work

Buying a pre-configured one is an option if you need it more quickly.

It was a fire at the battery factory actually :p

It's the reason for the shortages and increased battery prices for many notebook manufacturers.

I ordered R61 with 6 Cell battery on 5/31. It was supposed to be shipped by 6/13 which was not done. I inquired about the status. Online status says 6/21 and their rep says its 6/26. Issue is because of 6 cell battery. DO they project delays on last day? At least they should update their site the moment they get to know about the delay.
10 more days of waiting ...ufff

Yes I have been having the same delay problems, my order status has said "in progress" now for 2 weeks. This morning I finally got a response to my email to customer service and they said the availability of the 6 cell battery is what is holding up my order.

Just out of curiosity, Do they allow to cancel the order, considering the delay?

Mine just shipped out today after a couple weeks of waiting (I have been calling everyday since my expected ship date of june 13th so I guess if anyone else is waiting might be worth it if you have some extra time).

Will be getting the tracking number tomorrow so hopefully ill experience the fast shipping i have heard others have received.

Well I too just got an email about my laptop being shipped. I just hope it comes in before this weekend.
I too had been calling them since last week. Today I got a call from someone who was asking me questions about my experience with their representatives. I told him directly ...look till I dont get my laptop I will be unhappy and moreover u guys dont give me good approximation of shipment... u just give a new date when one approx date is reached. And I also added I will not recommend Lenovo to anyone because of this delays...
btw I ordered R61 on 5/31 Approx shipment dates: 6/13-->6/16-->6/26

Does any one have any idea how many days it takes to reach NY,US. My previous laptop(Dell) was shipped to my place in just a day. Can I expect the same with Lenovo..any comments

That depends entirely on how long it takes to work its way through customs.

Lenovo upgraded me to express shipping which i thought is pretty nice (i only paid for ground). I live in Sacramento CA and according to UPS it should be delivered Monday morning (baring some customs problems). However I called UPS and asked if I could just pick it up at their store rather than have them deliver it ( as i work like most people do ) and they said they cannot change. They are gonna just attempt to deliver it to my house 3 days in a row (Mon, Tues, Wens) and then Thurs they will release it for pickup at the UPS branch. Anyone know how to get around this?

Well all Lenovo's delievery are express even if you choose ground because it's international shipping...
As far as I know, it is Lenovo's strict policy to deliever the laptop to a person. I doubt they will change it.

Yea i just called UPS and the guy said lenovo puts on a lot of restrictions on how they deliver. It has to be before 1030am (they wouldnt change to late afternoon when i get off work) and someone has to be there to sign for it. I guess its good for security purposes but a pain for the 90% of people who work 8-5 M-F.

They also told me they will try 3 days in a row and if no one is there for the 3 days then it gets returned to the supplier so I guess don't procrastiant if you get one of those UPS "We missed you tags" on you door.

Contact your UPS if you could change your delivery address. Like I have a UPS account and I changed my delivery address and it was delivered in my office.
