I know this problem have been around for a while and "most popular" for Sony's laptops but so far there's no solution yet.

Needless to say I'm quite disappointed with my new T61p (the rest of this laptop is really fantastic).

Is this really a mobo related issue (i.e current in the battey power circuits leaked out from the battery while it's supposed to be isolated) and we cannot fix it ourself but have it repaired by authorised services?

    Any ideas is appreciated!
    Many thanks and regards,

Define 'rapidly'. Just so we can get a sense of the problem.

I think it's just like other laptops that have the same issue, about 15% per day. I've just left my T61p without using for 2 days and when opened it last night, the battery indicator showed that it remained only 65%.

I'm going to find out if it's due to I hooked up the DC connector from the charger to my T61p (without connecting to the AC outlet). I will leave it turned off for one day with no DC connect to and see what'll happen.

There have been threads about this before. All wake up services in the bios need to be disabled. Also in the device manager list go through all the devices. If there is a power management tab make sure that the option to allow it to wake the computer is unchecked. In particular pay attention to modems, mice, keyboards, usb ports. Lastly, in your network devices go to the advanced tabs and make sure any wake on link or wake on settings are all disabled. You should be able to get rid of nearly all of your discharge.
