Hello
I have a T61p and have questions about batteries and AC Adapters that I am hoping someone can help me with.
1. What's the difference between a 9-Cell Lithium-Ion battery v. a 6 Cell Lithium-Ion battery? What are the pros/cons?
2. What's the difference between a 90W AC Adapter v. a 65W AC Adapter? What are the pros/cons?
Thanks :confused2:

1-capacity. In theory, the 9 cell will make your computer run longer. 9 cells are usually larger than 6 cell variants. A 9 cell usually sticks out of the back of the notebook and adds extra weight.
2-difference is wattage. Thinkpads with power hungry video cards (eg: T61p, T61 discrete graphics, etc) are issued 90W to compensate for the potential increased power draw. There was a debate here not long ago about 65W vs 90W and what computer specs warrant 65W vs 90W. -

A 9 cell battery will give about 50% more battery time than the 6 cell, but it weighs more and may protrude from the notebook.
A 65W PSU is smaller and lighter than a 90W PSU. 65W will give enough power if you have an integrated GPU but dedicated GPUs normally need 90W PSUs. Battery recharge time when you are using the computer may be slightly longer with a 65W PSU.
