I usually have my T61p plugged into the wall as I rarely ever take it anywhere. I keep reading that it is a good idea to set the thresholds on the battery so that it doesn't always hold a high charge. Is this possible only with the Lenovo Power Manager application? I just did a clean install of XP and skipped that driver/application. Thanks!

I'm curious if Lenovo's power manager settings remain in effect when the computer is off, does it still know not to charge above a set %?

Yeah, it remains in effect. I have mine to start charge when below 36% and stop at 40% all the time. Whenever I plug it in, it never charges above 40%.

Are you sure there isn't another app that does this? I'd like to have this functinality in other laptops (from other brands)...

I'd love to know if there's another that functions like power manager because I don't want power manager on my laptop. I hope someone knows of another Application!

I don't think there is another application that does this.

However, it may be possible for you to install power manager, set your thresholds, and uninstall power manager.

I believe the thresholds will still remain in effect.

I run three operating systems on my x200 Tablet (Vista, XP, Ubuntu). Ubuntu does not have power manager installed, but it does respect my thresholds. For this reason, I believe the thresholds are written to the battery itself. It should be possible to set them with power manager, remove it, and keep the thresholds. However, you will need to re-install power manager if you want to adjust your thresholds.

program alone won't do it. There is a chip in T400 that controls power management. Power manager software controls this chip. Without the chip, software alone won't work.
