Dear Lenovo Customer,
April 21, 2015 -- In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lenovo is expanding the recall announced March 27, 2014. Lenovo is voluntarily recalling affected lithium-ion batteries worldwide. These batteries were manufactured for use with ThinkPad notebook computers that shipped between February, 2010 and June, 2012. In the interest of public safety, Lenovo will offer customers free-of-charge replacement batteries for all recalled batteries.

No idea, but according Lenovo's battery utility my battery isn't affected (T430, 2012/11).
Q13. What is driving the extension to the original recall? A: Lenovo constantly monitors all battery failures. After the first recall more failures in very specific lots came to our attention. The number of incidents are small but our number one priority is public safety and we concluded that expanding the recall was appropriate in this case. -
I really expected my X220 Tablet battery to be in there. There is a weird high pitched noise that comes from my battery when my computer is asleep (and yes, its definitely the battery. If I pull it out and leave the AC adapter plugged in, there is no high pitched noise), but the utility on the site says my battery is apparently not in the recall. Hmm....
