    Hi there,

I have done a clean Vista install according to Stallen's guide. The only thing I am missing from Thinkvantage software is the Battery Maximiser, which should prolong the battery life by not charging the battery if it is not under 80% charge (example).
Does anyone know if this really helps and is there any alternative Maximiser tool? I try to avoid thinkvantage utilities as they slow everything down...

    Thanks a lot :)

I don't have my T61 in front of me, so I don't remember what the battery tool is called. Whatever it is, I don't use any of the default options, but rather set it to a "custom" charging profile:
    Battery 1: Charge @ 80%, stop @ 95% (internal)
    Battery 2: Charge @ 70%, stop @ 95% (ultrabay)

With this strategy I have very few cycles on my batteries after several months of usage and I can keep the computer plugged in when I'm not using it without unnecessary charging. I think the Thinkvantage battery software is second to none! I also don't think it slows down anything - just pull up the windows task manager and you'll see that most processes are idle and it's certainly not the power manager being the CPU hog.

I say you should install all of Lenovo's battery SW and then explore every option they give you in the tool.
