How much difference is there in the battery life on a T61 on the 7 Cell vs. the 6 cell batteries...is it worth the extra 18 bucks to invest in the 7 cell or just stick with the 6?

well, divide the battery life of the 6 cell by 6 and then multiply that number by 7. That should be the batt life of the 7 cell.

most of the time you arent going to care about your extra 15 minutes (guessing) of battery life... but when it counts you'd be happy to have the 7 cell instead. and since others are saying they think the battery life sucks on the t61 then id definitly go with the 7 cell.

i got a 7 cell and im just waiting for it in the mail right now....

shipped just an hour ago. im soo excited...

it's worth it, trust me. i switched from 6 to 7 cell right after i submitted my order. That extra 15 bucks is super peace of mind. that plus an ultrabay batt is "i can take on the world"

No diff between 6 and 7 cell.

And YES I would go for the 7. I only get around 4-4.5hrs with the 7cell and I have the integrated intel graphics.

Based on the specs and what I have seen using my T61 I would say the diff is about 30 - 45 minutes of battery between the 6 and 7 cells.

Sounds about right. Did you have Wifi on or off?

Wifi and screen brightness are the two main things that determine your battery life it seems (at least thats what I have found).

Nice and good to know I am right about normal with my battery life :)

Its jumps around a lot on the estimates when working, but it ends up being right around 4hrs usually it seems.

yeah, sometimes it goes down half an hr then jumps back up 45, but eventually it ends up between 4 and 4.5 hrs

How much current do you T61s draw? Mine draws ~1.6-1.8 A on normal use.

there is indeed a real difference in size between the 6 and 7, but it is very small. ive posted pics on here before.

i think the price diff is worth it on the nvidia equipped machines

If I think of it, I'll compare the two tomorrow.
I have a balance scale and some gram weights (and both a 6 and 7 cell battery).

    I'd say it's about 30 more minutes...

    6 cell with 140m = 2:30
    7 cell with 140m = 3:00
    6 cell with x3100 = 3:30
    7 cell with x3100 = 4:00

Ultrabay battery = about 1:30 more?

on a 140m T61, the ultrabay is good for about 1 hour or a little less.

I checked the weight difference between my panasonic 6 cell and sanyo 7 cell batteries. The 7 cell weighs more by 65 grams (a little over 2 ounces).

    Is there another factor being considered between your #'s listed above? 6 cell with 140m = 2:30 & 6 cell with 140m = 3:30 ???? Same thing?

When I ordered my T61, I only had option of 6 or 9 cell ???

Whoops, got those mixed around. It has been edited and fixed.

    You must've ordered a 15.4" T61 instead of a 14.1".
