On both my t60 and x120e, the batteries occasionally charge all the way to 100%, despite the fact that I have it set to stop charging the battery at 97%. When plugged in, the t60 does not sleep or hibernate. I just leave it logged in at a working desktop. The x120e has an SSD, so I leave it at the log-in screen to garbage collect.

It seems to happen completely randomly to both machines. Should I do a battery reset?

Give it a try. I'm not sure what percentage is the best.

I know that GM uses 90% for the battery pack on the Volt.

So I set mine to 86% - 90%. It works great.

also try setting it to 96%. i think it could round the charge level up sometimes so it may not be accurate too.

I'm fairly sure that anything in between 0 and 100 percent is pretty much an estimate. Between the on battery circuitry and power manager it "guestimates" the power remaining in your battery. It's not a precise science to turn the voltage in the battery into a percentage remaining because that voltage varies over the life of the battery. The cells used in these packs also hold certain voltages differently as they age. A new cell may stay above 4 volts for awhile when under load wheras an older cell may quickly drop to 3.7 volts (3.7 volts is the nominal voltage for most of the 18650 li-ion cells used in these packs) and hold there for a longer time. The only time you can be certain what the charge level of the battery is, is when you hit full charge, or complete discharge. That's pretty much why a full cycle is needed every so often. So when you have it at 97%, that's so close to 100% I'd wager that you are just getting a little drift in that estimate of what's remaining.

Did you try to reinstall Power Manager?
