For the same thinkpad battery model, which is better, made by Sanyo or by Sony?

I don't think anyone's really done a comparison. In the past, I believe only the Sony-made batteries were recalled due to fire hazard though

My T500 has a Sanyo battery.

    I have on my X61s and X200 Tablet SANAYO's.

So far so good. No fires, explosions yet :D

Mine's Sanyo it seems fine (still at design capacity after 9 months of gentle use).

Oh, that's interesting (and kind of scary - my battery may start losing FC like crazy after 1.5-2 years :( - although, I guess that's also kind of expected). I had thought Sony and Sanyo split the Thinkpad battery market about half-half. It'd be interesting to compile some stats on NBR as well... hmm.
