When I try to make restore disks my T400, it tells me that it wants between 7-12 DVDs. Thats seems excessive. I read somewehere it takes 1 DVD and 1 CD to do it. What am I doing wrong. The OS is Vista Business 64 bit btw.

I really need to learn what to do. I am unwilling to use the computer in depth before I get this done, and I don't have access to enough DVDs to do as it says.

This backup utility is crap, i have created a backup with 1 CD and 2 DVDs using this Bankup Utility. Now CD can bootup the notebook and copy some basic files, it then ask for first DVD to be inserted, when i do so, it says its not the right DVD :)

Don't confuse the backup utility with the Factory Recovery Media utility; two VERY different things.

Factory Recovery generates 1 cd and 2 DVD's -- and NONE of your files. When run it restores the system to factory fresh. The operation is confusing when doing a recovery; it gives the option to insert OS disc that is different, you need to cancel that and then it will take the discs you made.

ozymandias Why does 7-12 DVD's seem like a lot to back up a complete system? I recommend you use 3rd party backup anyway and backup to an external USB disk; much faster and easier to deal with.

StealthTH I'd be concerned as well, no idea what you ended up with.

I'm not messing with the Lenovo bakcup tools anymore. Buy Acronis over at newegg.com for about $26 bucks.
