Spoke to Lenovo today concerning my laptop. I ordered a T60 (2623DDU) on 4-17-06 with 1GB of additional RAM. The ship date indicated 5-12-06. I have called once a week or so since the order and nothing had changed until today.
I was inquiring today about the shipping date (this Friday) and they indicated that the memory was on backorder (DDR667) and that it would arrive later this month. According to Lenovo my ship date is now the END of May which means my laptop will likely arrive the 1st or 2nd week of June. I even asked if it would speed the order if I cancelled the additional RAM and they said it would not make a difference as the included RAM is backordered. (Hell - if they would just send me the system without ANY RAM it would be fine with me!!!)
I am going on a week-long trip the second week in June and CANNOT proceed without this laptop!!!
I am planning on calling again next week - any more delays and I will have to cancel the order and look elsewhere.

Hey I am with you. I placed my t60 2007D3U order in mid April and the est ship date was 5/12. Called the customer service this morning and was told the est shipping date would be postponed til late May due to the RAM backorder problems. I am planning a move during mid-June, also.
I'm actually thinking about cancelling my order and probably place another one in about a month or so. Maybe by that time there will be more discounts on t60 lol.. -
Today I order a T60 (2623D7U). I can confirm that the memory is on back order as I was going to upgrade to 1G. I choose to order a box unit and upgrade later if need be.
I was very frank with the rep. I told him about all that I had read on this bulletin board. He said he could see that they had aprx. 20 unit like the one I ordered in stock.
I hope I'm not being naive but I believed him.
I also spend the extra $50 bucks for 2 day shipping, we'll se what that's worth? -
You could always order a machine from an internet site although it may not be that machine and you'll give up the return policy.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. I've had a T60 with the 15" flexview screen on order since the beginning of April. Up until last weekend the order status page said it would ship May 8th. On the 8th the ship date was bumped to May 29th. The sales rep I spoke to confirmed that the memory is on backorder and that it would indeed ship the 29th. It's pretty sad to wait 2 months for a laptop no matter how good they are.

The memory has indeed been on backorder. I've been waiting on a T60 with 1GB since early April, and it has regularly gotten pushed back. As of about a week ago, estimated build date was the 8th, so I'm hoping for a week or two until it ships.

Well - I decided to cancel my order for the T60. Found a comparable unit from HP. Cost a bit more compared to the EPP discount I got, but thats ok. This one is a bit faster (T2600) with a slightly better graphics card for gaming - ATI X1600 256MB. This one also has the wide screen and even has a fingerprint scanner. Ordered it with 2 GB RAM and a 100GB 7200 RPM HD.
Best part is that it was verified in stock and scheduled to ship this week.

Joshuasgto (or anyone for that matter):
The last comment got me curious as to whether Lenovo charges the cc when you order or when they ship. Seems esp. relevent given the long delays I'm reading about. -

I just ordered my T60. I ordered the 2623D7U and selected the total system memory be 1GB. The estimated ship date is 06/01. Do you guys think that this has a chance of coming true?
-
On another note, one good thing about ordering from lenovo.com is that you can return the complete order to get the entire refund/credit within 30 days after the day of invoice (day of shipping.) The customers only pay for the UPS shipping, which I calculated to cost $10-$30 ground. -
They cannot legally charge your cc until it ships.

Whoohooo... my T60 shipped this weekend. I've been waiting for 6 weeks. The memory must be back in stock because the original ship date was 5/8 and then moved back to 5/29. It'll be in my lap tonight. I hope everyone else's shipped as well.

I guess I cannot complain yet.. ordered 5/16 expect 6/14
