    If I buy a Thinkpad W530 that doesn't currently have a backlit keyboard, can I replace that easily? In other words if I plug the new keyboard it it just works? All of the connects are present on the chassis for all W530's ???

    Sure, its an easy replacement. The connectors are the same for all W530 models.
