Hi,
Here is the performance log from autocad 2008 for t61p, i wonder that's normal?

thank for this info, i use autodesk on a daily basis.. and i have been wondering how this machine would perform. Have you been able to run it on the t61p?
-
it run smoothly on t61p,
however, there are so many "Not available", i wonder whether that's right? -
However autodesk rates it as "support, not recommended"
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servle...AutoCAD-R17.1&os=1&os=2&os=256&os=512&os=2048 -
thanks alot for the link, i;ve been searchin the site for a while and have not found any useful info. What kind of work do you do on studiotools?
-
That is probably not right.
There's nvidia autocad drivers that you can download
http://www.nvidia.com/object/powerdraft_workstation.html
I don't know if it really matters if you don't use autocad for 3d though.
There's also drivers for 3d studio max
http://www.nvidia.com/object/maxtreme_workstation.html -

thanks for the update, if i pick up the t61p.. i'll be sure to download these.
BigReat - Have you tried running autodesk on any other computers, how does the t61 compare to them? And does the t61 lag at all? -
-
I hope it is supported that is why I bought my T61p, for engineering use
-
Just an fyi, Autocad does look for specific driver versions w/ specific hardware to determine 'certified', so any warning of that nature is extremely vague. The best way to find out is to try. If it doesn't work well, send it back.
I can say that autocad runs well (not as sharp as my desktop though) on a T61p 14' w/ 570M 128MB system w/ 2GB of ram. -
at work i was running autodesk aps on an old dell precision m60 with an fx1000 go... and it was running reasonably decent. I'm just hoping that the 570m will perform as well or better.
-
runs well on mine. takes a minute to startup, but other than that, it's damn smooth.
sketchup is beautiful on here too, with maxed out settings. -
I run AutoCAD 2008 using the config in my signature. The program starts in 4-6 seconds, and runs fine. Basically, it waits on me much more than I wait on it.
-
So did anybody try the special autocad drivers? I'm not sure it's really worth it for me because I only use autocad 2002 for 2d.
Nevertheless I'm thrilled to read that sketchup works good.
-
I did not install the special drivers. I was surprised when I found that the card was not supported natively, now that I am aware of the drivers I may try them in the near future.
-
Update:
The special drivers above are applicable to AutoCAD 2007 or earlier and are for 32-bit installs. The 2008 version does not need them and as a result they will not install if 2007 is not on the system. 3ds max 9 may operate similarly, but I do not know. -
if autocad 2008 works on my X61 with integrated graphics i think there will be no problem on your T61
-
We know it works, we were just wondering how much more we could squeeze out of it. Check out the earlier posts for the assessment.
AutoCAD 2008's performance log for T61p, OK?
