I believe 64-bit Vista Ultimate currently only uses up to 4GB of ram, so anything more than that is wasted (at least for now.)

Vista Ultimate takes up to 128 GB of RAM, but currently anything over 4 GB is a complete and utter waste of money.

That said, many laptops are limited by the motherboard and BIOS, which will fail to recognize anything over 4 GB.

Unfortunately there are no 4GB SO-DIMM sticks out there for notebooks. Kind of sucks. :/

I just had to 'lol' at this.

No, it's not sure. Right now it's not your 64-bit OS that limits you. Like Lithus stated, it will be your BIOS and motherboard. According to Lenovo, the T61p can go up to 4 GB. Honestly, I haven't seen any Lenovo notebook motherboard that can recognize more than 4 GB yet.
