    Argh, I messed my order up

    I placed an order on Dec 31st, it hasn't shipped yet. Here's my situation.

    I bought a standard 14 inch screen T61 with the thought that it had the best graphics card being the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M (128MB). I didn't think there was a T61p, only a T60p for some reason but now I notice there's a T61p with a nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (128MB Open GL).

    I will be playing a game or two on this machine so I want the best graphics card I can get. Will I be able to call and make this change possible considering I used the pre-new years coupon considering it hasn't shipped yet?

    Am I hosed?

    Also, how much better is the nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (128MB Open GL) versus the one with 256Mb of memory?

    Wait. Go further.

    The 15" T61p has the 256MB FX560m versus the 14" 128MB.

    Big difference. 64 bit 128MB versus 128 bit 256MB.

    The 256MB is slightly better than the GeForce 8600m.

    Lenovo usually don't get you cancel the order, many people had issues trying to cancel their order after ordering it. Call them anyway, don't wait.

    Is there any tips you can give me besides calling right away? Is there anything I can point to the terms and agreement that allows me to cancel without charge?

    Should I just try and cancel the order or should i change it upgrading it to the T61p?

    I don't see the big deal with canceling the order if it has not been assembled yet.

    From what I have read here over the past few months, most people will accept the package..NOT open it and then call IBM to let them know they are returning it unopened.

    Opening the package will slap you with a restocking fee.

    The problem is, how do i get the coupon deal that expired on 1/1/08 if I cancel and reorder....

    A lot of people had problems with this kind of stuff tho. They complain about the bad customer service they get and how they were shipped things they didnt ask for due to 'website errors' claimed by lenovo.

    Call them to cancel if you can, if they won't let you just return the package like pantee said. IBM don't deal with this stuff...its lenovo now, they make the laptop over seas...and frankly they don't have christmas holidays, so they are probably building the system already.

    I did same thing as you - later I found out about the T61p, lol.

    but anyways, I don't think there's much of a difference. I played already couple of games and all ran fine on my t61 :) The last one even ran good at max resolution 1400x1050x32 :D , so can't complain what so ever ..
