It seems not many people like their T61,

Why then dose eeryone recommend one?

Vote if you like your T61 or not.

these polls are stupid. You should not have polls and just ask for pure insight in the form of posts.

For example, I just voted, no too many flaws, and I don't even have one.

And 9 people voted "yes, I love it!" when 9 people already made threads complaining about it.

But there is no correlation between those 9 complainers and the 9 people who voted...if someone hasn't had any issues the are not going to post about it...however, if people are having issues, they're usually the pdeople we hear about...

    You forgot to option:

No opinion because I don't own one

---> Some people will vote love it just because they love their other Thinkpad or something

Sirius_GTO. Why are you hating on the T61. Are you having buyers remorse after purchasing the Latitude D630? I see you have removed it from your sig.

I think it's pretty cool and I think I'm gonna love it (only a few days use)! These impressions are just from memory though. Don't have it right now. Had to send it away to get repaired. Should show up pretty soon.

When I opened the box on my T61 and turned it on, I was disappointed. But I knew I would be with Vista.

    My T61 shipped: T7300(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in LCD, 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn, Bluetooth, Vista Business.

I stuck in 2 GB of Corsair memory, got Windows XP running as I wanted, and now i'm in love :) At first I couldn't get the wireless lan to work in XP, but now found drivers on the Intel site. Everything works, including the fingerprint scanner. Fantastic machine. Super fast. Awesome screen. Good quality. Not perfect, but about as close as you can get.

Good quality screen: High resolution, and I can't press anywhere on the top of the case and see a mark on the screen. (can with the acer)

Nice quality hinges: I suppose I can't really tell for sure without another couple of years of heavy use, but the hinge mechanics seem to be very high quality.

The keyboard has very little flex, the case seems very rigid.

The optical drive seems to be nicely made with sturdy arms supporting it when open.

Overall, it just seems much nicer than other laptops i've dealt with.

the lid on mine doesn't close firmly
the right hinge hold that part of the lid down tight, but the left side doesn't
so there's a gap between the lid and the palm rest.
a little annoying, but otherwise i'm pleased with it

Yeah I've noticed that in pictures. Just a little minor thing that doesn't affect function at all really, but annoying, like the offset lcd, and to me the new tags.
