    Or is the discounting typically so minimal that I'd be better off just planning for a refreshed Broadwell machine when the time comes?

    There is the Lenovo Outlet where you can sometimes get some very good deals. I bought my X200 there. I'd wait for the buttons to return before buying anything, but that's me.

    They recently had a special on T-540p's... we picked up a well-equipped machine for something like $700. Pretty substantial discount under their normal pricing. The machine shipped within a day or two... they must have had a bunch of excess inventory and I guess they're starting to clear things out for the new models.
