hey guys.. i ordered a custom configured T400.
It says estimate ship date is 2/19/09 (Ordered Jan 29th)
Are shipping dates accurate for lenovo shipments?

also, i have a question about the keyboard... I see a new keyboard in ebay for about $40 shipped It's compatible with T61, T400. It has a solid plate instead of the one with full of holes. Is that a Chicony keyboard? (Will that also increase the sturdiness?) I think mine wil lbe the one with more plates to reduce the keyboard flex.

    Thanks guys

There shipping dates are rough ballpark numbers. Secondly, I'd wait until you have the laptop in hand before buying a new keyboard. Lenovo reportedly added support braces to reduce flex. I'd try out the keyboard installed in the Thinkpad before buying one incase there is nothing wrong with it.

Lenovo has three keyboard suppliers, NMB, Chicony, and ALPS. Without a product code, it's hard to distinguish the difference between the three when ordering. If there are pictures, you can check what color the pads beneath the keys are - NMB uses blue pads, and Chicony and ALPS both use white pads. There's a way to distinguish between the two, but I can't recall it off the top of my head.

Like StealthTH said, I would wait until you get the laptop in your hands before ordering a replacement keyboard.

The chicony used to be the worst of the three the chicony, the Alps and the NMB. The chicony used to make the worse clacking BUT every once in a while there would be some one who liked their chicony.

You dont want to buy a KB off eBay. Lettering worn out, people eating greasy foods and used it, maybe even touching nose area (or worse) and using it. Seems unhygenic.

My original estimated ship date for my T510 was Feb 11, but it shipped Jan 29... I don't think the estimates really mean much of anything.

    MARCH 12TH?!! wow.
D3mia7, i hope that'll be the same with me XD.

I REALLY hope that Lenovo doesn't delay it because I chose 1440x900 LED Backlit screen with a cam.
