    Hey everyone,

I'm just working on another reformat of my T61; so far, I haven't installed my chipset drivers and all seems to be well. Are these important? What are possible repercussions if I don't install the chipset drivers?

    thanks.

Windows usually has all the necessary chipset drivers. Go to device manager and make sure there is nothing in there without a driver (it'll have an exclamation point next to it). If there isn't anything, than you're good to go, if there is something go find the driver whether it be a chipset, gpu, sound card, etc driver.

Install the intel ones from lenovo!!!

It may seem like it is running fine, but you are probably losing performance and stability in some areas that you may not have touched on yet but will sometime.

Chipset drivers should ALWAYS be installed as the first thing after a fresh install of windows. You should be fine if you install them now though, but please do.
