Are T61p batteries the same as T60 batteries?

On the Lenovo site and from googling, it is not very clear if there are different batteries for the T61p versus the batteries out for the T60. In fact, on the Lenovo site (unless I am just looking in the wrong place) I do not see batteries for the T61........only T60.

For example, is 40Y6789 the same Ultrabay battery for both T61p and T60?

If the batteries are the same, the second question I have is are there recommended onlline sites for lowest battery cost? availability? quality?

    Thanks,

    Alacrity

I am almost positive (pun intended :D) that they are the same battery as the chassis are the same. I would look on eBay for starters ... just make sure you buy an OEM battery; personally I don't trust the knockoffs.

The ultrabay is the same in the T60 and T61, so that battery is the same.

The variability comes into play with the 14 inch widescreen T61s that use the 4, 6, and 7 cell batteries.

A 6/9 cell battery for a T60 works fine on a T61 assuming the machine uses this battery combo versus the 4/6/7 series. I hope I'm not mis-speaking here, but I believe the 4/6/7 is 14inch Widescreen T61 non-P and everything else uses the 6 or 9 cell (and it's not the same 6 cell as the 14inch).

    Confused yet? :)
