I'm going to be using a T400 for school this year, and I want to know if I will be able to get ~7-8 hours of use from the following configuration:
- 9-cell battery ( this one, 6600 mAH).
- Crucial BX100 SSD as the sole storage device ( best budget price/performance SSD, and one of the most frugal power-wise)
- Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
- Integrated Graphics.
- 40%-60% brightness (1280x800 LCD)
- Wifi on, Bluetooth off.
- Usage will be writing code, Word, OneNote and browsing.
-
-
Even my T61 (14" 4:3) reaches 8h during Office (6-7h if you add some light browsing). However, I am using a new original 9c battery (85Wh) and Linux (Ubuntu).

No one can tell you how well a system will do using a generic battery. With the original Lenovo 9-cell unit and settings as described, you should be able to get what you're looking for.
MidnightSun likes this. -
Thanks. If I buy two of those batteries, it should be practically guaranteed for me to have at least 8 hours, correct? -
If it were my machine/scenario, I'd attempt to locate a genuine 9-cell and call it a day. -
Are 8 hours of battery life possible on a T400?
