According to Anand's 2012 MBA review all 3 CPU options in the 2012 MBA have VT-d, VT-x & AES-NI (scroll to the CPU chart at the bottom of that page).

No, it depends on the product. For a white MacBook with cracks all over the casing (which one could actually see through to the inside), they wouldn't replace it. And the white MacBook had been my most reliable Mac in a while other than one of the original candy colored iMacs (my PowerBook 165c sans the battery wouldn't break even if I tried).* Battery bulge in a MBP, yes. However, it goes beyond that, I just got sick of having to deal with stuff like random dents despite treating the laptops in my opinion with care. There was also my time capsule (partially a problem with being an initial buyer) that wouldn't back up properly and would take forever to make subsequent backups. And don't get me started on the overheating... My x220 has been by far my most reliable and enjoyable machine in a while to the extent that I am strongly leaning towards a second ThinkPad as a desktop replacement.

*To give credit to the white MacBook, despite the cracks, the laptop gave a good four years of service without much hassle. Additionally, not complaining sooner about the cracks was my fault. I try to keep my complaints to a minimum (I have never really posted on laptop forums before my x220, and I only started posting because I wanted to fully understand how to install a mSata before attempting to do it myself). Basically, I "vote" with my wallet as I have done with the x220.

My problem with the X220 and X230 is that they don't offer a high-res screen.

i'm now using the T420s with 1600 x 900 screen but after carrying it on a daily basis to and from work (2 hours standing in the train), the MB Air 13 does seem very attractive. And let's not even begin with the battery life of the T420s....

i've been trying to find a 2nd hand X201s but there doesn't seem to be many on the market, so i guess there must be something about it (high res screen, light weight and super long battery life) that makes their owners cling to it.

So now i do regret not buying one when it was out due to the reasoning that it didn't have a webcam and hdmi/display port which ironically are the things that i can live without.

i haven't tried the new thinkpad keyboards yet so i won't comment, but if Lenovo screws up the trackpoint, then i won't hesitate to switch to another brand.

All i can hope is that they will bring back maybe an X230s with high res screen and lighter profile.... dream on i can...

there is a thinkpad ultrabook coming soon: X1 carbon with 900p solution and spill proof key board. But it's probably not my cup of tea, as it seems to have only low voltage processors.
