Hi there,
I have got into a sticky situation, while getting my R61 serviced, and need your help.
Is there a way I can find out what are the serial-ids of the various components, like LCD,battery, processor etc. if I have just the serial number of my Thinkpad ?
Reason : The service center team messed up the Motherboard of my first ever & only Thinkpad, and after good round of verbal allegations & accountability reminders, they agreed to replace it (motherboard).
However, the technician informed me that they will provide no assurance that all the parts of the laptop are the same as those that were with original machine
They kept the laptop for about 45 days, saying that the part to be replaced is being ordered/shipped , which, in my opinion, is a very long time to 'misplace' some original parts of my laptop
Please help !
Thanks
A G

You might want to send a PM to Mark over on the Lenovo forums. He's probably at least get you an answer even if it's not what you want to hear. You might want to post this over on the Lenovo forums too. You'll may get some access to Lenovo staff.

Thanks Zaz. I'll do the same.

You may try to access this link:
Lenovo Support - Parts Lookup (CY)
You need to enter machine type and serial number.
Good luck! -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Each individual part is supposed to have it's own serial number. Dell has a 20-23 digit PPID on like batteries, HDD, LCD's to "keep" track of which parts in your machine. Support will only have general FRU numbers, not serialized parts.

i know Lenovo keeps the serial number of the battery that comes with your original laptop shipped. But not sure whether they keep a list of serial number for other parts of the laptop.

Anyway to track original part ids with Thinkpad serial number
