Well, I was so excited about my T61 shipping, but I just checked and found that I got both the Samsung screen and Chicony keyboard.

I would accepted one or the other but I'm kinda pissed that I basically got the worst parts for all available parts. Maybe because my configuration wasn't as high end as some people's?

Anyways, am I just going to have to live with it?

(BTW, I'm aware this is probably a stupid thread, but sorry I need to vent right now.)

the samsung screen isnt really bad, the LG screen is brighter, but the samsung is crisper.(i have a samsung screen on mine)

as for the chicony keyboard, it is great. the whole concept about how the NMB keyboard being the best is totally opinionated. i would wait till you get the laptop and if you are unsatisfied with a legit reason i'm sure lenovo will swap it out no problem.

It just depends on what you think of it. If you think your screen's quality is satisfactory and the keyboard is fine, then don't be pissed. If your Samsung screen really is messed up with light leaking and whatnot, feel free to be pissed. However, it is stupid to ***** and moan based on other people's opinions.

Thanks for the support guys. I was planning on looking at it first, but all these complaints about how Samsung and Chicony are so inferior keep worrying me.

Dude I have the NMB keyboard and I prefer my friend's keyboard more than mine ( he has a Chicony). So quit fretting, its opinion.

I have the exact same rig coming with a Samsung LCD and Chicony keyboard. I am not worried one bit. Why let other idiots influence your decisions, especially when you haven't even seen the damn thing :p

I actually would prefer a Samsung LCD over Hitachi. I know if I was buying an HDTV, theres no way in hell I would get a Hitachi over a Samsung. The same goes for a computer monitor.

As far as the keyboard, who cares. Its not like you won't get used to it over time.

Only thing I have a grip about is the expedited shipping that will take a week for it to arrive :p

The other LCD manufacturer is actually LG/Philips, but I'm sure thats what you meant. :p

I got expedited shipping too. It'll supposedly be here by Thursday, but I really don't wanna wait that long. :(

I like my Chicony keyboard, I've never been able to type as fast, personally I hate keyboards that don't make a sound.

Oh, take it easy on the guy! Lately there have been a lot of paranoid people posting in IBM/Lenovo so I can see how one can get cold feet.

At least when buying a Dell, you *know* you're getting a bad keyboard so there's nothing to worry about

Oh God, is this thread still up. I mentioned in the original post that I'm aware this thread is probably stupid, but I'm just a bit paranoid about not getting the "preferred" configuration. It doesn't matter because I repeatedly stated that I'd try the laptop out for myself regardless of the parts yet people can't seem to understand this.

Yeah they understand, they're just pointing out there is no such thing as "the" preferred configuration, it's all personal preference. I'm one of those who likes the chicony.

And not that I agree that your thread is "stupid", but if you even characterize it this way, what kind of responses did you expect? The only stupid part imo is calling any particular configuration "bad".

How can I identify which LCD and keyboard I have? Just out of curiosity. I like my T61 screen and keyboard.

Thanks JaeZTT for the link and instructions.
Apparenly I have an LG screen with Alps keyboard. As I mentioned earlier, I'm very satisfied with both.

Yeah, I was paranoid about the NMB vs. Chicony thing but in the end it turned out that I actually preferred the Chicony (I had a previous T60 with NMB). On the other hand I got the LG/Phillips screen (which is supposedly the "good" one), and while is is pretty bright, it suffers from light leakage.

So, to second what other's have said, don't let someone else's whining influence your own judgement.
