Has anyone out there ordered the T61 with a 14.1 SXGA+ screen?

If so- I have a few questions for you:
    1. When did you order?
    2. If you received shipment, when did it ship?
    3. Most importantly, what do you think of the screen?

I ordered the same day as you. I think I saw you over on that OTHER thinkpad board. I am so anxious to receive this thinkpad (my first ever) that I have been scouring the net looking for as much info as I can get my hands on to try and satisfy my desire. Its not working :(

heh, yea im on thinkpads forum too.
im like you, except i did all of that research BEFORE i ordered. (i still knew i'd love my thinkpad though).

i also drove like 15 miles to my nearest best buy for business, so i could take a look at a T60. i was satisfied comparing the keyboard with all the other laptops, and the thinklight, and i gently shook all of the laptops to see how much they swivel and the T60 was definately the most sturdy.

Have you heard anything about delayed/early shipments with the SXGA+ screen? Also, what did you end up going with, XP or vista?

braddd, yours looks just like mine (except the resolution). I didn't even remember the screen was off-centered, so it really doesn't matter. How's the temperature of your machine? The bottom of my machine is really very warm as soon as turned on.

I have had my machine on for a while, the bottom of the machine is warm, the palm rests are also warm. Nothing has felt beyond warm though and I have had it on for about an hour straight now without powering down. Do you have a 7200RPM hard drive by any chance, I hear those get pretty warm.

You are right I didn't notice the screen of center either, I don't mind it at all.

No I have only 5400rpm, nothing fancy whatsoever. In fact everything in my config is low-end except I have a Thinkpad abgn, which shouldn't matter, I guess, since I'm using ethernet DSL now. Palm rest is only luke warm, but bottom is more than warm. And I'm not even doing anything.

Braddd, do you know what temp. your HDD hit when it felt warm? I have a 7200 rpm T61 which reaches about 45 deg. C when doing some java programming and web browsing.

My T60P with 7200.1 seagate runs cooler....

Braddd, you may use one of the disk temperature reading freeware utilities on this site:

    http://www.benchmarkhq.ru/english.html?/mon_e.html

Lowspeed, is there a specific rep you spoke to, when you called to return your thinkpad? Also, was there any resistance in returning your first 8897 CTO? How did you handle it?

Hi, lowspeed, were you not the one that bought from the same site? I think I got the link from a thread where I saw your name? some alumni site? Last I checked it's still there. The thread is maybe a month ago.

But when you select the thinkpad it changes the delivery date from 1-2 weeks to call....

I'm not sure what you mean? My estimated delivery is Oct. 18, but I received it today.

Are you simply looking at the front page of Thinkpad sale? I didn't even bother with that. When doing the customization it says this option may delay the shipping at least 4 weeks, but then it's not so, maybe they have more in stock?

I got the A/B/G in my T61p, do all t61p's come with the 3rd antenna, can I swap in my A/B/G/N card from my t60p or will the 3rd lead not be there?
