I am thinking about buying a 15.4 T500 or W500 as desktop replacement, but I hate dim displays.

Does anyone have a T500/W500 with WXGA+ or UXGA display? How is it? Can you post the make/model of the screen.

Do you mean WSXGA+ (1680x1050) or WUXGA (1920x1200)? There is no WXGA+ (1440x900) screen option for the T500/W500.

My WSXGA+ screen is sufficiently bright for my use, and it's certainly brighter than my old comuter's screen. In front of my window in my room, I use it at 2-3 notches from full brightness very comfortably. In dimmer areas, I can use it at some of the lower settings very comfortably as well.

You can read my review of the T500 (link is in my signature) for some more detailed information on the WSXGA+ CCFL screen (LG manufactured my screen).

I have a WUXGA W500, and it is just fine for indoors computing. About the same as the other 15.4/15' W/UXGA screens I have had the past 10 years. Perhaps just a touch dimmer, but no deal. I use full setting 95% of the time; and it is perfect. A stunning screen. I often use the next lower setting at night (combined with keyboard light). I find lower settings than that inadequate.
