    Hello,

Is anyone here using the 433830U Mini Dock Plus Series 3 170W dock with their W520? Have any of you managed to get more than two external monitors to work with the dock?

The notes at the bottom of this review seem to indicate the the w520 is unable to drive more than 2 external monitors at once.

According to that review, he didn't test the 170W 433830U dock. He tested with the 135W dock.

Anyone have the 170W dock? Anyone tried going beyond 2 LCD panels?

I stand corrected. I was thinking that the limitation was more a by product of the Optimus implementation and not a function of the dock wattage.

Unfortunately, I plan on using my W520 with my existing 135W dock once I receive it. I hope someone else will be able to provide you with the answer you need.

I was going to mail back my W520 tomorrow but I can pull it back out of the packing and check at work Monday if you're still interested in an answer. I have two monitors connected to it currently and can pull an extra from storage.

No need, but thanks. I have the 170W dock now. It doesn't change anything.

I can do 3 monitors if you count the W520 LCD as a 3rd.

I have Viewsonic 2235 and 2250 hooked up by DVI out as left and right monitors and use the W520 in the middle.

How do you get just two external monitors but NOT the Laptop ie: I'd like the lid closed and be working on the external larger screens

    1. Dock the W520 while it is powered off.
    2. Press the dock power button with the lid closed.
