Just curious if anyone has used Readyboost on their T-6x series Thinkpads, I'm thinking of getting a SanDisk CompactFlash Card Extreme III 4GB for Readyboost because I heard that it can really speed up booting times and load times for apps, anyone tried Readyboost yet?

Readyboost can be used on any Vista machine. I think what you're thinking about Kebs is Turbo Memory - an internal memory card. There is an important differentiation - I"m sure searching the forums / Googling for it will result in a clarification as I dont know the exact differences.

did you get the media card reader option, Ace?

I'm also interested, but it seems like no one has tried. I remember seeing results somewhere saying the only noticeable difference when using readyboost came with an expresscard ssd. Until I remember where that is, I suppose that info is useless.

It's only worth it if you have 1gb of ram.

zhefei - I haven't bought a t61 yet, I'm going to within the next few weeks, and yes I'll definitely get the media card reader option. I believe I read something similar as well regarding the expresscard, I've also heard that it mostly just helps boot times and programs that cache a lot of things.

Tailic - I agree somwhat with you, readyboost makes a far bigger difference on slower systems with lower specs rather than newer / faster machines, however, once flashcards begin reading at 30, 40 or even 80mb/s the difference will become more noticeable on current machines, it seems like an alright way to ensure at least some speed down the road, but the main draw for me is that with readyboost you won't be using the HDD as often so the computer will drain less from the battery and run cooler..
