I use to run NHC on my old laptop
is it fine to use with a T61?

well, I just installed it. Works great :)

It even dimmed my screen brightness for me and I can adjust as I wish (profiles)
I guess it's because I did a fresh Vista install..

edit: it seems to not get my HD temp...CPU temp ok @ 51C

I'm still using it, but I too have an old laptop :)

Undervolting nets me about 25 minutes on a 9-cell and 4-8 degrees celcius of heat output.

    yeah it's a good program.

Doesn't seem to be underclocking my CPU though....it's at 2.00 ghz constantly.

anyone know why it's not clocking down the CPU?
...it does that on other core duo laptops i've seen.

Maybe I should try another program ?

I used NHC extensively on my ASUS (Pentium-M). There is a known problem with Vista where if you have NHC, dynamic clocking wont work. It will simply lock in to the last used frequency. This can be solved by upgrading to Windows XP. This could explain your problem.

Hopefully they will fix this in the future. It is one of the big reasons (among others) that I am currently using Windows XP.

When I undervolt on my ASUS my temps go from 58 to about 48. A nice drop for a laptop that has heating issues.

I'll have to check out my T61 heat/undervolting specs when I install NHC tomorrow (or later tonight).

It doesn't get the Hard drive temp on mine either.
I wonder if that feature is reserved for the professional version only, which will cost you just over $20. Or maybe it is a "bug"?

How do you "undervolt"? Are there any guides for this? I am new to the whole undervolting and overvolting thing, so if you could guide me in the rigt direction that would help.

nah, you don't need pro for that

    i think it's a Vista issue.
It doesn't even underclock the processor

NHC doesnt work on my new dell m1210 in vista or XP.

there is nothing in the Voltage/multi boxes, they are all blank.

it always says MAX CPU SPEED too, even though i know im at half that.

    ???

one reason i dumped vista cause i thought it might be causing my NHC problems. it doesnt seem to work in XP MCE either. i wonder if i should try normal old xp pro/home

odd though, i bought an outlet 1505dell, with an x1400 in it, and NHC worked wonderfully in XP and Vista
