I ordered on the 29th and still have yet to receive any confirmation. I called and the rep said the part number is not orderable yet, and needs to be loaded into the system which would take a few days. That was five days ago. Called again and he said he would e-mail me as soon as it was orderable. Does this sound normal? The rep I got on the phone is in Canada, maybe that's the problem?

Believe it or not in the past people waited six months or longer for certain machine types.
-
be prepared to wait for a while until your system gets to your door.

What did you order at the outlet?

I made the same presumption - that it's built and should ship fairly quickly. I ordered on 12/21, and the ship date moved a week back to 1/04. The status online never changed until it shipped (supposedly) on 1/02.
I received it 1/03. The label said it left the warehouse 12/27 - the original expected ship date.
I guess just exercise patience and don't bother checking the status online.
I will say that I am EXTREMELY happy with my Outlet purchase - I think I got a decent deal, and the machine has exceeded my expectations. -
-
Something is wrong because when I ordered a machine it stated that I would get an email within 1 business day of the online order. I guess I will wait until tomorrow and see if they do send an email.

With outlet ordering, be prepared with the process because they don't follow the same rules as a CTO order.
The email thing is just a standard procedure with orders but as has been reported back on these forums, ordering an outlet system and getting to the delivery stage is anything but standard - but you do get a great deal provided you're willing to put up with Lenovo. -
Similar to Jonros, ordered a "new" T60. I recieved it on the 27th of Dec (about 2 weeks after my order), which means that it shipped approximately when they said it would (original estimated ship date was the 24th). To this day the status page for my order says "shipped on Dec 28" (um, shipped after I got it). Never got a tracking number, etc.
So, the ordering/tracking process is essentially nonexistant and gives you wrong information. But at least in my case, the machine did arrive in what I felt was a reasonably timely fashion. And it was a good deal and the machine was in perfect condition.
There is certainly prominent language on the site which strongly implies that they will be shipping the machines out more quickly than they do (something to the effect of "These machines are sitting on the shelves, waiting to be shipped"). I don't feel they really make any attempt to live up to the spirit of those statements (even if they are technically correct).
But once you get it I think you'll be happy.... -
Well, I received an e-mail from my Rep saying that the warehouse is having trouble locating the machine, and that they can't say when or if it will ever ship. How's that for inventory control? Regardless, it was a great deal on a machine that was perfectly spec'd for me, so I'm keeping the order open in hope that it turns up. Too bad that the additional RAM and extra battery I ordered have already arrived. All I can say is beware of the Lenovo Outlet!

LOL, beware of Lenovo sales!
Anyone received recent Outlet order?
