Anyone have an ideapad with Core i7 running into turbo problems?

I've been reading around and have heard that some companies are disabling turbo mode when the laptop is running on battery. Does the ideapad have that problem?

I heard about that. Supposedly it wasn't intentional and there is a bios fi forthcoming. Also a few machines are having thermal issues running at full power and the dell xps 16 apparently didn't ship with a big enough power supply.

This must be a different mode than we had we with the t61p? Because we found that turbo mode was largely useless.

I believe the OP is referring to the Turbo Boost feature built into the i7 CPUs, which selectively overclocks cores when the processing power is needed.

I haven't heard about any such issues on the Y550p, but then again, the number of Ideapad owners is likewise small, probably because Lenovo does such a horrible job advertising that line.

well i know the hp envy has a locked multiplier which is def not a good idea so I hope they fix that with a bios update.
